DramaTHEATRE. The word made flesh.AOG (Acts of God) exists to create community for theatrical artists within Centre Street Church. We meet regularly, two Monday's a month, for workshops, rehearsals, and trips to see theatre together. We want to re-define what 'community theatre' looks and feels like. We want to not only develop and further our skills as a group, we also want to reach out into the community around us and be a creative force that encourages, inspires, and gives hope. We produce 2 full-length shows a season as well as doing extensive sketch and video work for the weekend services. Through the development and use of dramatic skills we seek to grow as fully devoted followers of Christ and encourage others to do the same. Why Act? Why Create? Why Art? Why Drama? Why..... Dorothy Sayers says, "How then can we be said to resemble God? The characteristic common to God and humans is apparently--the desire and ability to make things." While we are incapable of making something out of nothing, every time we engage in the creative process we are like our Maker. Artists are here and now extensions of the One who imagined every little bird's wing, who ushers the sun to it's place every morning, and sustains a universe of galaxies so awesome we cannot begin to grasp its' dimensions. When we create, we live out a large part of what it means to be human, to be crafted by a loving Father who intends for us to express ourselves as we make art. Creativity glorifies our God. If you have a passion to be part of creatively communicating God's heart, whether by acting, set building, helping backstage, or otherwise, we'd love to have you along.
