We’re Rob & Julie Laidlaw and Russell & Melissa Wyse. When we planted our first church (LifeBridge) in the Halifax area, it was always with the intent of seeing additional churches planted. We just never suspected we would be the ones to continue doing the actual planting. But God laid it on our hearts to hire someone to take Rob’s place as lead pastor, so that we could be freed to start another adventure down the road.
Eastern passage is only ten minutes outside of Dartmouth, but it is really a community unto itself. With over 15,000 people, it only has one small, evangelical church and desperately needs a stronger representation of Christ’s love. Ideally, this area alone needs twelve more churches. So we moved into the community a year ago to start building relationships, and introducing people to Jesus Christ
Sheldon and Candice have been married and in the work of the ministry together for 20 years. They have 2 children, Ethan and Chloe. Over the years they have served in the areas of worship, youth ministry, short-term missions, and church planting. They are passionate about being a part of a life-giving church that reaches into the lives of the unchurched, and seeing His kingdom advanced on earth as it is in heaven. In 2017 they answered the call of God to relocate from Winnipeg, Manitoba to plant such a church in St. John’s, NL. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Sheldon has come back to his roots and along with Candice, carries a passion to see the church advance despite a current culture that has become one of the most secular in the nation.
