Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave His life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
Here at Centre Street Church we believe that it is a privilege to serve. God frees His people and gives them gifts and talents so that we may serve Him and others, as an act of worship (Exodus 8 and Romans 12). In the process, we become more like Christ, who came to serve, rather than to be served (Matthew 20:28). Where is God calling you to serve?
At Hope City Church Barrie, we exist to REACH people with the Good News of Jesus Christ, RESTORE the reign of God by loving God and loving others, and REPRODUCE followers of Jesus Christ. Working among the marginalized and vulnerable in the urban centre of Downtown Barrie, we address poverty issues and hopelessness through our ministry of presence and friendship. We build relationships and invite people into loving community, and we provide direct discipleship and care programmes to help people to become everything that God created them to be. We live on mission all week long, and we believe that "Church is not where you go; it's who we are!" As we make disciples, we gather as a church in a variety of ways including Sunday Gatherings.
Hope City Church Barrie intentionally mentors people in life and job skills, while meeting tangible, emotional, and spiritual needs through programmes and social enterprise. Higher Grounds Coffee House provides a "Stepping Stones" mentorship programme, with plans to expand the programme with more enterprise opportunities and supportive, transitional housing initiatives. Our ministry centre provides the venue and the opportunities for both new and mature Christian disciples to serve one another and the greater community, and Hope City Church is dedicated to providing leadership development and learning opportunities in order to raise up the next generation of ministry leaders and missionaries. Hope City Church is actively working toward multiplying "kingdom outposts" like our ministry centre, coffee house, and church gatherings.
